From Proto-Polynesian *siku (extremity, tail, end) (compare with Tahitian hiʻu, Maori hiku, Tongan hiku)[1] from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *siku (elbow) (compare with Malay siku, Tagalog siko both “elbow”)[2][3]
