[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish حرفیاً (harfiyyen), from Arabic حَرْفِيًّا (ḥarfiyyan) adverbial accusative of حَرْفِيّ (ḥarfiyy), from حَرْف (ḥarf, “letter of the alphabet”) + ـِيّ (-iyy, nisba suffix).[1]
