Pronunciation
[edit]Noun
[edit]hapanhai
- A foul-smelling Icelandic food made of Greenland shark or basking shark by fermenting and drying. As it is barely known outside Nordic countries, most languages do not have a word for it. In English, it might be called fermented shark, or by the Icelandic term kæstur hákarl (“fermented shark”) or just hákarl (“shark, Greenland shark”).
