hack squat (plural hack squats)

  1. (weightlifting) An exercise performed on a machine by using the legs to move weight resting on the shoulders, thereby moving the weight as the legs are straightened and the feet remain stationary.
  2. A squat exercise with the barbell held in the hands just behind the legs, but without the use of a machine.
