[edit]From Proto-Albanian *gur-gur, root-doubling of Proto-Indo-European *h₂ger- (“to put together”). Identical with Lithuanian gurgulỹs (“coagulation, thickening”), gùrguolė (“bulk, mass, lump”), and cognate to Ancient Greek ἀγείρω (ageírō, “gather; assemble”), Latvian gùrste (“bundle of flax”).
