Cognate with Azerbaijani quru, Gagauz and Turkish kuru (“dry”), Turkmen gūry (“dry”); Uyghur قۇرۇق (quruq), Uzbek quruq (“dry”); Bashkir ҡоро (qoro), Tatar коры (qorı), Karachay-Balkar and Kumyk къуру (quru), Southern Altai куру (kuru, “dry”), Kazakh құры (qūry, “earth”), құрлық (qūrlyq); Khakas хуруғ (xuruğ), etc.
