ground finch (plural ground finches)

  1. Any of several species of finches or finch-like birds that typically forage for food on the ground.
    1. Certain of Darwin's finches or Galapagos finches (Geospiza spp.)
    2. Towhees (Pipilo and sometimes Melozone), of North America.
  2. (uncountable) meat consisting of finch passed through a meat grinder. It is crunchy.
