geteson

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

Old French

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

geter +‎ -eson, variant of -oison (French -aison).

Noun

[edit]

geteson oblique singularf (oblique plural getesons, nominative singular geteson, nominative plural getesons)

  1. (Anglo-Norman) jetsam; jettison (that which is thrown from a watercraft)

Usage notes

[edit]
  • Although the citation does not show gender, gender can be deduced from the -eson suffix. Compare meson, seson, and so on. The Anglo-Norman On-Line Hub for le geteson does not necessarily indicate masculine gender, as le is occasionally used for feminine nouns in Anglo-Norman and Old Northern French. See le.
