[edit]From Ottoman Turkish گدك (gedik, “notch, gap; mountain pass”), from Proto-Turkic *kēt- (“to indent, notch, crack”). Cognate with Azerbaijani gədik. Note the Turkic borrowings: Northern Kurdish gêdûk, geydûk, Armenian Գյադուկ (Gyaduk).
