Etymology
[edit]From Old Turkic keč, from Proto-Turkic *gēč. Related to Azerbaijani gecə (“night”) and Azerbaijani keçmək (“pass”). Cognate with Turkish geç (“late”), Chuvash каҫ (kaś, “night, evening”).
