  1. (reflexive, colloquial) to set one's mind to (something) (decide to try very hard to accomplish something)
    Jag gav mig fan på att gå ner tio kilo
    I was bloody determined to lose ten kilos
  2. (reflexive, colloquial) to bet, to bet one's ass (strongly suspect, especially something negative)
    Jag ger mig fan på att det kommer regna imorgon bara för att jävlas med oss
    I bet my ass it's going to rain tomorrow just to mess with us
