Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Sanskrit गृहपति (gṛhapati). Cognate with Prakrit 𑀕𑀺𑀳𑀯𑀇 (gihavaï), 𑀕𑀳𑀯𑀇 (gahavaï). By surface analysis, tatpuruṣa compound of gaha + pati.
