[edit]From Old Galician-Portuguese *fũeiro, from Latin fūnārius (“of or pertaining to a string”), from fūnis (“string”), from Proto-Indo-European *bʰendʰ- (“to tie; bond, band”). Cognate of Portuguese fueiro.
