[edit]Etymology
[edit]From fructan + -o- + hydrolase.
Noun
[edit]fructanohydrolase (plural fructanohydrolases)
- (biochemistry) Any enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of a fructan.
- 1987, David W. Newman, Kenneth G. Wilson, Models in Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, volume 1, page 87:
- The fructans of the inulin series are hydrolyzed by fructanohydrolases which attack the P-(2, 1 )-fructofuranoside linkages at the nonreducing chain ends with the release of fructose.
- 1996, International Dairy Federation, Bulletin, volumes 309-328, page 26:
- These enzymes are designated as -2,1-β-D-fructan-fructanohydrolases (EC 3.2.1.7).
- 2008, Arun Dev Sharma, “Chapter 4: Advances in Microbial Inulases: Its Production and Properties”, in Jerrod M. Cantor, editor, Progress in Food Engineering Research and Development, page 183:
- Two types of exoinulinases (2, 1-β-D-fructan fructanohydrolase EC 3.2.1.7) were later identified and purified from C. pannorum AHU 9700 (Xiao et al., 1989).
Usage notes
[edit]Chiefly used in combination within chemical names, and otherwise synonymous with fructan hydrolase.
