[edit]Noun
[edit]freedom of trade (usually uncountable, plural freedoms of trade)
- (business, trading) The ability of individuals and businesses to engage in commerce across borders without any restrictions.
Usage notes
[edit]- While very similar to the concept of free trade, freedom of trade is a broader term, and includes the elimination of trade barriers that are not included in free trade agreements, such as licensing requirements, technical standards, or other regulations that can make it difficult for foreign businesses to enter a market.
