  1. A common infection of the hoof of animals such as cattle, sheep and goat caused by two species of anaerobic bacteria, Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus; infectious pododermatitis.
  2. A disease of plants, affecting the stalk or the trunk.
