Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish فوقالعلده, from Arabic فَوْق (fawq) and اَلْعَادَة (al-ʕāda), equivalent to fevk +‎ âdet. Compare Azerbaijani fövqəladə and Uzbek favqulodda.
