Etymology

[edit]

Apparently from Old Irish do·éccai, but with difficulties regarding the second consonant.

However, a compound derivative of this verb, con·fécha (to scrutinize), is apparently attested in Old Irish within the Milan glosses as the imperfect form com·fechinn.
