establishment growth (uncountable)

  1. (botany) A special form of seedling growth in arboraceous monocotyledons, during which the longitudinal axis of the stem expands to reach its final girth. After achieving the definitive basal diameter, the stem elongates, maintaining a nearly cylindrical form.
