[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish املاك (emlak), from Arabic أَمْلَاك (ʔamlāk), plural of مِلْك (milk, “property, estate”).

Usage notes
[edit]- Although etymologically a plural form (singular mülk), it is sometimes used with a plural suffix.
- Inflected forms are irregular due to the conservation of Ottoman pronunciation. Regular forms like emlakı and emlaklar are occasionally seen.
