[edit]From eke (“to mount”).[1] Attested as hekkeuna in An Essay Towards a Dictionary and Grammar of the Lesser-Australian Language, According to the Dialect Used at the Marquesas (1799) by William Pascoe Crook, Samuel Greatheed and Tima'u Te'ite'i.[2]
