doughface (plural doughfaces)

  1. (derogatory) A person, especially a politician, who is perceived to be pliable or moldable.
    1. In particular, in the antebellum United States, a Northerner who espoused sympathies with the Southern Slave Power, especially a Northern Democrat who was more allied with the ideology of Southern Democrats than that of the majority of Northerners.
  2. (dated, obsolete, derogatory) A face that resembles dough in its appearance or color; a face that is bloated, pale or plump.
