[edit]Borrowed from Latin diapāsōn, from Ancient Greek διαπᾱσῶν (diapāsôn), from Ancient Greek διὰ πᾱσῶν (χορδῶν) (dià pāsôn (khordôn), literally “through all (notes)”).
