[edit]Unknown. Perhaps related to Southeast Pashayi [script needed] (ḍēr, “heap”), Hindi ढेर (ḍher, “heap; many”), Nepali धेर (dhera, “many”), all from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀠𑁂𑀭 (*ḍhera, “heap, lump”).[1]
