From de- +‎ thaw, by confusion with defrost or perhaps with words with null de- like defraud, decomplex.

dethaw (third-person singular simple present dethaws, present participle dethawing, simple past and past participle dethawed)

1. (nonstandard) To thaw; unthaw; unfreeze.
   • 2001, Jane Vandenburgh, Physics of Sunset, page 27:

     "That's like your saying dethawed when you mean defrosted."
     He made only the slightest little grunt.

This term is nonstandard; the usual term is thaw.
