Etymology

[edit]

Literally, when Adam was a shepherd on the hillside by Skarå Creek. Gjætt is apocope of gjette, past of gjeta. Skarålia is a hillside at the creek’s lower part, but it is also name of a farm at this hillside, here used with dialectal case ending with preposition referring to the hillside (not the farm).
