Etymology

    Inherited from Sanskrit द॒ण्ड (daṇḍá, stick) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-). Cognate with Kalami [script needed] (ḍḗṇḍī, calf of leg, shinbone).[1]
