[edit]Attested 1604 in Antoine de Montchrestien.[1] From Middle French dedalus after Dédale (“Daedalus”), who built the Cretan Labyrinth in Greek mythology, from Latin Daedalus, from Ancient Greek Δαίδαλος (Daídalos).
