Borrowed from Sanskrit चक्र (cakrá, wheel, circle, point), fom Proto-Indo-Aryan *ćakrám, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *čakrám, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷékʷlos (circle, wheel). Doublet of cykl (cycle).
