cycloversion (uncountable)

  1. (medicine) Conjugate cyclorotation of the eye (torsional movements in the same direction).
    • 1993, Ian P. Howard, Spatial Vision in Humans and Robots: The Proceedings of the 1991 York Conference on Spatial Vision in Humans and Robots, Cambridge University Press, page 349:
Rotation of an eye about the visual axis is known as ocular torsion. Conjugate torsion of the two eyes is known as cycloversion.
    • 1995, L.J. van Rijn, J van der Steen, H. Collewijn, Update on Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmology: Proceeding of the Joint ISA and AAPO&S Meeting, Vancouver, Canada, June 19 to 23, 1994, CRC Press, page 156:
Binocular torsion can be transformed into cyclovergence and cycloversion. Cyclovergence is the difference of the torsion of the left and right eyes; cycloversion is the mean of the left and right eye torsion.
    • 2004, M. Edward Wilson, Strabismus Surgery: Basic and Advanced Strategies, Oxford University Press, page 71:
In 1992, Enright recognized for the first time an association between vertical vergence and cycloversion. He observed that the vertical vergence producing a left hyperdeviation was associated with levocycloversion and vice versa. He calculated that the ratio between the vertical vergence and cycloversion was such that this cycloversion is likely mediated by the oblique muscles.
