[edit]From Middle High German küelen, from Old High German kuolōn, chuolen, from Proto-Germanic *kōlōną, *kōlēną. Cognate with German kühlen, Dutch koelen, Saterland Frisian köile, English cool (verb), Swedish kyla. Equivalent to chuel + -e.
