- (zoology, obsolete) Any member of the obsolete taxon Chondropterygii, which included both the cartilaginous fish (Chondrichthyes) such as sharks, rays, skates and chimaeras, and the more primitive bony fishes such as sturgeons that have some bones made of cartilage.
