- (pharmacology) A yellow crystalline broad-spectrum antibiotic C22H23ClN2O8 (trademark Aureomycin) of the tetracycline group that is produced by a soil actinomycete (Kitasatospora aureofaciens), active against many bacterial and fungal infections, and is sometimes used in animal feeds to stimulate growth.
