capture effect (plural capture effects)

  1. (radio) A phenomenon where two FM signals of unequal strength at or near the same frequency are received simultaneously within the FM reception, in which the modulation of the weaker signal is suppressed at the demodulator output, and thus only the stronger is demodulated.
