Borrowed from Russian коляска (koljaska), diminutive of колесо (koleso), from Old East Slavic колеса (kolesa), plural of коло (kolo), from Proto-Slavic *kolo (wheel), from Proto-Indo-European *kʷekʷlom (circle), *kʷékʷlos (circle). Cognates include English calèche, French calèche, Polish kołasa, Persian کالسکه.
