Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from Dutch kakhuis (“loo; outhouse”), probably via Malaccan Malay, Indonesian kakus, or another language spoken by Dutch-colonized peoples. Compare Javanese ꦏꦏꦸꦱ꧀ (kakus), Kristang kakus, Papiamentu kakushi (from the Dutch diminutive kakhuisje), Ternate kakus.
