[edit]Borrowed from Polish kabanos (“sausage”), from kaban (“hog, boar”), from Ukrainian каба́н (kabán, “wild boar”), from a Turkic language (Tatar kaban, Azerbaijani qaban, Kazakh қабан (qaban)); cognate with Turkish yaban.
