- Primarily a wetland wood, bubinga thrives in swamps, inundated forests and near rivers and lakes. An equally well-known bubinga includes species Guibourtia demeusei, Guibourtia pellegriniana, and Guibourtia tessmannii. All bubingas are members of the Leguminosae family but go by various commercial names.
