- A fluorescent dye produced by the reaction of bromine with fluorescein.
- 1887, Journal of the Society of Dyers and Colourists - Volumes 3-5, page 45:
- Bromeosin is nitrated in an enamelled pan placed in a water-bath.
- 1889, Alfred Henry Allen, Commercial Organic Analysis:
- With potash solution, bromeosin gives in the cold an orange-red solution, which on boiling becomes purple-red, violet, and pure blue, with a strong green fluorescence.
