[edit]bridewain (plural bridewains)
- (historical, archaic or dialectal) A cart or waggon, loaded with household goods, conveyed from a bride's house to her new home; (by extension) the bridal gifts transported upon such a wain.
- 1916, The Living Age, volume 288, page 24:
- Against the opposite wall stood a dresser, holding a varied array of wooden and pewter platters, piggins for drinking out of, and two or three china cups. Next to it came the bridewain, and then the great bed.
