Etymology

A derivation of bri (“horn”), contaminated with brinjë (“rib”, literally “horn-shaped or semicircular halo over one's head”). Alternatively, it might be an irregular derivation of Latin aurora, with a strong change in pronunciation similar to Ancient Greek αὔρα (aúra). The evolution could have been aurora > *avreora > *vrerore > brerore.
