Etymology

Diminutive of Old Spanish *boño, akin to Spanish buñuelo, Catalan bunyol (both “fritter, doughnut”). The underlying noun is at hand in Catalan bony (“bulge”). Further origin uncertain. Theories include a Gothic *𐌱𐌿𐌲𐌲𐌾𐍉 (*buggjō, “lump”) or identity with Spanish moño (“bun of hair”), itself probably from a pre-Roman substrate of Iberia.

     7 eggs for the cats, 8 eggs for the Tishpishti, 15-20 eggs for the middle of the Seder, I don't know how many eggs for the bimuelos and more eggs for the fried food.
