[edit]Borrowed from Balinese ᬩᬶᬬᬗ᭄ᬮᬮᬄ (bianglalah, “rainbow”).[1] The alternative form [b]iyang-lalâr attested in Crawfurd (1852), analyzed as biang (“source, mother”) + laler (“fly [insect]”),[2] is probably an eggcorn.
