betalom
Appearance
Russenorsk
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Norwegian Nynorsk betale (“to pay”) (or it's Northern dialectal apocope form betal), with Russenorsk verb ending -om. May also be a loan from some older unknown pidgin, therefore it is possible to derive it from Danish betale, Middle Dutch betalen, or Swedish betala.
Pronunciation
[edit]Has also been registered as bitalom. The sound change e->i happened through Russian unstressed /ʲe/. Therefore at least two different pronunciations are possible:
Verb
[edit]betalom
