[edit]From Malay betah. Cognate of Javanese ꦧꦼꦠꦃ (betah, “comfortable, endured; need”), Old Javanese bĕtah (“tenacious, stubborn, persistent, tireless”).
- The sense of recovered is a semantic loan from Persian بهتر (behtar, “better”).[1]
