Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish بكلمك, بكله‌مك (beklemek),[1] from Common Turkic *bekle- (to fortify, to protect), from *bek (firm, solid, stable),[2] equivalent to pek +‎ -le. Cognate with Azerbaijani bəkləmək.
