[edit]From Proto-Aslian *bɯɯl (“drunk”), from Proto-Mon-Khmer *ɓul ~ *ɓuul (“drunk”). Compare Old Mon balḅul (“drunk, intoxicated”) and Old Khmer vul, whence Khmer ពុល (pul, “poisonous, toxic, sick”).
