Etymology
[edit]Debated. From Old Galician-Portuguese bezerro (13th century, Cantigas de Santa Maria), from Medieval Latin becerrus, ultimately perhaps from a substrate language and related to, or from, Latin ibex. Cognate with Portuguese bezerro and Spanish becerro.[1]
