beat up on (third-person singular simple present beats up on, present participle beating up on, simple past beat up on, past participle beaten up on or beat up on)

  1. To hurt someone by hitting or kicking them many times.
    She beat up on me pretty bad.
  2. To criticize someone unfairly.
    He's always beating up on her about her weight.
