[edit]Borrowed from a Mozarabic descendant of Late Latin particella, diminutive of Latin particula. The change from /p-/ to /b-/ would be the result of Arabic influence.

- (historical) a dry measure equivalent to 11.7 litres, divided into six almuds in Mallorca and four in the Valencian Community
